Playdough
Ingredients
2 cups of plain flour
1/2 cup of salt
food colouring
water
cooking oil
essence
Mix the dry ingredients together in a large bowl.
Add 2 tsp of food colouring.
Mix in 1 tbsp of cooking oil and essence if needed.
Pour cold water into the mixture and stir until it forms a dough. Add the water gradually.
Store the dough in a plastic sandwich bag.
Try adding extras to the dough such as uncooked rice or pasta.
Adding glitter makes a sparkly dough.
Encourage exploratory play by hiding treasure in the dough. Plastic spiders, worms or sequins are good.
Talk about how the playdough feels. Is it sticky, gooey or lumpy?
Talk about the colour and smell.
Talk about how we made it, what did we do first?
